Mandrakes

I was trying to make up a word that means verb: with bravado aforethought, prove that you are not scared of [insert plausible calamity here] by defying every instinct and denying apparent danger by spitting in the face of so-called ’superstition’” .

Kinda like looking at this…

iss total balaa

then filing your taxes.

So far, I got

Hamniti-shindwe-gorification

and I am actively pursuing the above activity by really roaming over the internet while I should be finishing up a report (which only needs like 1 hour of edit time *smh*)… Why is it when you don’t want to do something, time stretches itself until it comes time to actually use it ?

Like, I was going to take a shower and then sit down with my dinner and finish up.

I took a shower. Looked at the time and saw that it was like 9.23 p.m. so I decided it’d be better if I waited for a nice round number like 9.30 and what better way to spend time than to look up mandrakes- which are very fascinating plants that would find a nice stable home in the Kamba community (don’t write me a letter, I may not be a Kamba, but I’ve had some vigourous ‘and workin Mkamba in me so just chill… *sheesh*

Side Bar:
Me? I admit I’ll never sing “open their mouth, their grill gleaming (d® , 2005)” . It’s disrespecting kina Boyonce. Similarly, it was a waste of time for my dude to say “Under-arm-hair” Oh, but the fun you’ll have. Kwanza while playing with ‘is hunder-harm-’air! (Well, not really but it sounded good).

So, as I was saying, I believe in that ‘houses have an energy’; ‘blogs have an essence’ stuff that you can’t really admit hadharani as a true-African(I blog anonymously so I can). And I also believe that when you move blog-neighborhoods, you change a lot of the page/ neighborhood/ dynamic that gave you, the writer, that voice that people responded to so favorably.

See for me, once my kids untaught themselves Kikuyu and learnt how to speak it with a British accent, ever since my husband stabled the polo horses in Nanyuki as the humidity in Molo is very damaging and he’s moved up to a zero handicap ; ever since I got my ’shamba-boy’ one of those Jane Nyambura uniforms that are all the rage (since her abilities have been widely recognized in Kenya ever since she was a student at Joytown school for the physically handicapped and she won a prize at Nairobi show for her avante-garde designs) i.e. once I got money and moved on up from blogspot to blogsome, while this new zip code, wih the regularly swept streets, where the police respond to ‘loud music’ complaints (unlike blogspot where it takes anti-aircraft gun fights to get a traffic cop with a rungu and notebook and ask you for a pencil as the biro has melted by the time he walks to your house)

(OMG!! I just realized that that whole paragraph is one sentence… Sheesh, you’d think some Keguro would have rubbed off on me… oh well, I’ll comma splice).

Ya! I meant that ever since I moved on up to blogsome, I feel like I’ve lost that blogspot magic… (er… forgive the vanity implied there for a minute, I meant ‘magic’ as in pleasure to write etc.).

Side Bar 2:
Which brings me to my next point. Does feng shui really work? I’ve been pulling using that excuse everytime I tidy up the house and clear jamaaz things out (not this one— hukos in the past) and when he comes around asking why I moved stuff over, I’m like “baby, I feng shuid”…

OK, wrapping it up (which I have been as we all should - even if we have to go to Mobil to hook it up) . Or maybe it’s just me… but do you ever read the page of someone who’s migrated and feel like there’s something missing? No?

*yawn…. I should be sleeping*
