Tribute to the Gich.
I stumbled across KBW by way of BruthaCode who’d linked MamaJunkYard who’d linked kina Spidey et al and I.was.hooked. And I was then reading blogs like it was part of my job description. The camaraderie between Guess, MJY and Nick and all those other OBs– erm… OGs was amazing. I was of course lurking as initially, it felt like I was intruding on a family conversation. There was this rowdy, rambunctious, crazy, loud (even in cyberspace, best believe you mofos be louuuud!) and they were having so much fun, I was like “I gotta get me some of this blogging.”
And I started my blog which (say it ain’t so), had my real name in its glory. I mean the full mutumiawamucii.blogspot.com AND pictures of me (what was I thinking?!) courtesy of crappy halo scan as that was in the bad old pre-flickr days. Of course I got 0.0 comments but I got hooked on this whole “you have a story to tell, so tell it!” idea. And, I decided to join KBW. Msanii was one of my first custos and he slowly became a regular (more on the utter loveliness that is Msanii in another post). Then visitors started trickling in, and I started butting in on conversations and the thing that surprised me so pleasantly, was how welcoming everyone in KBW was.
Which brings me to Nick.
Nick is the consumate blog buddy. He’s all over the place like suruali ya malaya mwisho wa mwezi. There’s KBW infrastructure (aggregator, webring and techie stuff) and there’s KBW the community. And, to me, more than anything else, I think the success of KBW’s community has had a lot to do with Spidey. Go to every new blog on KBW and more likely than not, the brother has left a welcoming note saying “Karibu!”. Nick, is also a reader. The man actually reads posts- which to a blogger, is the ultimate tribute. He’s also wicked funny (read his comments on Milo’s posts), and was constantly supportive of new bloggers and tiring and flagging bloggers. Nick, more than others has helped bridge the old bloggers to new bloggers and with the lovely Guess have really made this whole blogging thing an interactive experience.
And he’s now hanging up his laptop (for lap dances- don’t believe the story he’s peddling ati going back to school. Wapi?). And he will be missed sorely. His posts were legendary, his comments funny, poignant and sometimes just bizarre.
So to Nick, I say “Dude! You like, so totally rock”. I can’t hate as he’s got to handle his and make it do what it do. Ingalau, you will be missed. And you are appreciated.

Isn’t the song just the bomb! You see what I mean when I say you’re my sis from another mother? C’est vrai my sista! Nick is so like, a 10 I agree. I was gonna start a one-woman petition to ask him to stay on but the brotha has his reasons and we gotta respect that. Oh well…

Nicky (yes, he hates when I call him that), welcomed me here. I sent him an email asking me to put me in Nchiyetudaily, LOOOL, yeah, I was C.L.U.E.L.E.S.S, and he wrote back, with his usual humor, eti ” I am the admin in KBW, and NYD is run by Deno, and we would like you to join us although we wont be mad at you if you join NYD as well!”…something akin to that, then he gave me Deno’s add…I mean, like, how totally cool is Nick?
tehee, and all his comments, and how he gets what you are saying and makes a baby joke out of the mama joke, sigh, I’mma miss Nick me…Somehow, my relationship with Spidey has digressed into Nick, my Movie guy..sometimes I’m staanding in the Video lib picking movies and I can’t make a choice and I sound out Nick, and he goes “I would give it a 6, Tom hanks is ridiculous”….or sometimes I have a toothache and Nick will go ” Pain at night= root canal”…and that is Spidey for you, eternally awesome!!
So right mammie- he’d pick on the jokes and elaborate and you’re like “that is so where I was gonna go if I’d thought about it longer and harder! and I’m so cheerasy (OWW, 2006) that you can call him up and just get some video healing is good for me…. he he he..
Big up to you Spidey (that sounds soooo KBC,Saturday Night Show, yes, with lyrics to popular songs, sigh, LOOOL, Like this time Karani Laban(yes, Laban!!!!smh), was giving the lyrics to Az Yet’s “Last Night” and I could hear, yeah, hear the man sweat going like ” last night, I was inside of you”, ” Last night I was inside of you”, yeah, he had to say it twice see, so you can really get the gist of it, and errrr, write it down. Gawd! I am olddddd!!!!!!…tihiiii)
He he he!!! and they would pause the damn music to give us the lyrics so I never really knew how the song sounded without the pause and the deejay wekaring his own soundtrack. I was so surprised when I went to Bubbles and heard a song in its entirety for the first time!
I digress a gazillion, but I was saying, Spidey, THANK YOU.

Haki swear I had them all!!! Lakini I deleted the blog fastest jo! Plus I have one of the most easily googlable names! Like my middle and last name in combi brings up mpaka my dental records and home address. Scary!!! But that’s all behind me, I’ve been washed by the blood and am now pure as the driven snow. Ngoja I move to IP-less surfing. Washana nayo!
Nick aka BlogFaddah truly was the heartbeat of our world at KBW. His was the house where we all gathered. Reading and participating in his blog was like having a conversation with old friends and the Gich was the kitchen table we all congregated around and no one can deny that he nurtured a lot of bloggers.
I had just started blogging the first time when I stumbled across his blog. I was instantly hooked but when me and my shy self took a quick look at the comments sections where there was a raging blog war going on between him and MJY/Daud/Blue (yes the boy did love to pick fights lol) I booked right out of there. Not my kind of place I thought. I wouldn’t last ten seconds in that crowd. But curiosity got the better of me and I spent several hours reading going through his archives. I probably decided at that moment I was going to make friends with this fascinating blogger. And so I did and in the process made got to meet other interesting bloggers.
I wont go on because you have touched on the key aspects about Spidey that we pendad and so to Nick aka Fatboy aka Spidy I raise a cyber toast, you mattered in a way most men would sell their kidney to matter and without you, we will be lost for a while
Yah. Spidey is special. And soooo cute!!! Damn! Ah well… You’ve left, KM’s left, Miss K’s left, Prof. Keguro’s MIA, Milo’s left and now Spidey’s gone and it’s brawl central everywhere. “The thrill is gone…. “

He’s not going Milo style (off the face of the earth, never to be heard of again). He just won’t be blogging any more. No more sleeze crew. No more blog wars with Blue. No more KBW balls and such. But he assures me (personally- but do I say?) that he’ll still be blog-ho’ing here and there, pale na pale
