From the Cutting Edge and Mutumia archives

    (excerpted from Cutting Edge)
Writing from Malaysia, an incensed Seth says: “Limkokwing University in Malaysia recently held a small promotion at the Kuala Lumpur Centre. There were some Kenyan students who sang Jambo Bwana. All was well until the students shamelessly told the visitors that the song had been composed at the Malaysian University. Shame on those students!”
    (source Daily Nation).

This made me laugh. And realize that liars abound and roam the earth.

Like this time, when me and my girl are catching pints. So this jamaa intent on making conversation starts telling us how he’s been all over Kenya and he’s even written a book. What book you ask? I’m glad you asked. Ati Facing Mt. Kenya.

Wha???

So of course we’re like “No seriously, what book did you write”. And now he’s getting vexed and he says “Facing Mt. Kenya!”. And since my girl is really nice, she asks him “Kinda sorta like a re-mix of the original?” . Jamaa, with what I have to admit is true testicular fortitude, with a straight face says”Nah… the original. That guy cheated me and published under his name.”

Well, then.

Even more startling was that

a) Said story took place in Nairobi!!! I mean, that’s like strolling down the National Mall in DC and saying that you wrote a little speech about liberty or death.

*SMH*

b) Said culprit was a 35-ish year old white guy! With one of those accents of the smaller European countries with zero Nato troops and or coalition troops (Moldova, Lithuania, Armenia!- maybe he was Artur!). And he wrote the Kikuyu anthroplogy book.

c) This is a true story!

Have a truthful day won’t you!

  1. First here. Lol at zero Nato troops!
Talk about pick up lines. He thinks kenyans are dandas how?

Plus, he was bilas as he was drinking Mirinda in the bar! And his vibes were just weak. Annnndd we were drinking in Cactus (too near Florida to be catching pints in the vicinity of a jungu) and so we were doing our “keep your distance and we don’t really know this guy. Honest!” E&E techniques (developed by Navy Seals!).

  2. Well maybe he did write facing Mt kenya. Even that couple wrote Da vinci code…………………….As for those students in malay, atleast they were not lying to Kenyans. They assumed that no one will ever get to know about it.

Can we finish the alphabet. They always make me laugh

Coming right up once stats come in from the field! Yaani I’m hoping to get stories from people that I will include (anonymously) into the data samples! I can always credit y’all if you want though!

  3. Hey gal! Seems that some peeps have no shame in their game at all!
How does a dude step to Kenyans and tell them he wrote one of Kenya’s greatest books! Sheesh! He should have at least lied and said he drew Bogi Benda or something non descript like that!
Some people need to get their asses beat!

Wewe Aco *giving you the evil eye*. Don’t be talking about my Bogi-Boo. You know I loved that jamaa. I would have drawn myself into the cartoon if he’d ever changed his striped suit (and if I had any artistic talent). That boy rocked! Alcoholic, under-acheiving work ethic and all…
